The Vicarage was
built in 1865 for Rev Henry J Wilkinson as the parsonage
to the adjoining St Georges Church. The Vicarage was a
reflection of it's era - typical of Church's buildings
it was practical but not grand. Rev Henry Wilkinson was
incumbent of St George's church for 36 years leaving
Queenscliff in 1901. The parsonage as it was known then,
consisted of two levels and basement servants quarters.
The church grounds - originally 2 acres occupied the
land on Hobson Street hill between Mercer and Learmonth
streets and housed a beautiful gothic style church and
separate school house as well as the parsonage.
The Parsonage became known as The Vicarage in 1917. The
Church sold the property in 1967 and it remained with
this family until 2006 when it was sold to the current
owners.
The Vicarage today, has undergone a careful yet
transforming restoration and paints a a picture of
elegance true to its history, yet accepting of our
modern era. Quality & style have been uncompromised -
beautiful antiques, sumptuous drapes and carpets,
gorgeous light fittings throughout and much, much more.
